This cabin built by Jonathon Browning (a famous gunsmith) was a neat place to visit. First, we visited the brick home and gunsmith shop where we learned about the family, and then learned how he made guns. The boys loved this sight!!! Browning guns are still popular today. Then we went out back to the log cabin they lived in before the home was built. They continued to use the cabin as a summer kitchen after moving into their home. It had herbs drying above the fireplace, a toasty warm fire burning, big black kettles beside the fireplace that Mrs. Browning would have cooked meals in, rough hewn logs as the pilars and ceiling, and candles burning for the light. Wow...talk about feeling like we're right in the time period! We really enjoy learning about life was like for the pioneers back in the 1840's.
